Googling became a part of the lexicon in early 2000 thanks to the innovative idea by Google that radically changed the concept of search engines. Anything under the sun could be searched for, within seconds and it gave Google a dominant position in the internet market. Yahoo! the leader of the web services like e-mail and chat was very late in realizing a market and by the time they launched the Yahoo! search in 2004, Google was light years ahead. Google by then had exploited the internet market and it is also said that most people kick start their day by Google and Yahoo! just couldn’t be beat that.

Indian IT services companies are
gradually, but surely gaining expertise in various industries they are
providing services. Not only are they strengthening their manpower, but also
the skills required to understand the finer nuances of business.
Consulting services can be
classified according to industry practices (like automotive, pharma, media,
retail etc.) or by functional practices (like operations, strategy, corporate
finance). The Indian IT companies provide software services across all these
industries and functions. The implementation and maintenance of the software
requires a business perspective. This knowhow has enriched the skills of IT
services companies. The globalization wave has also resulted in free exchange
of ideas and people across countries. So how does all this make sense?

The IT industry has been the face of the Indian growth story. As time has passed, we have seen newer avenues opening up. The Indian IT industry has been constantly innovating to maintain its edge over the world. Global Delivery model was the first innovation that put India on the forefront. But now, competition has increased, and the profits are being squeezed.
The software service companies have shifted their focus from pure sales to relationship development. The Indian companies like to be called "equal partners" in their bid to work for clients. They are ready to anticipate and adapt to the changing nature of business.
The software companies can be classified into two.
The software providers who create niche software products catering to various verticals. The others are software vendors who provide software services to the client, on software products owned by software providers.
