Kerala...known for its greenery, rivers, backwaters. Fondly called ‘God’s own country’, Kerala became synonymous in the past decade for IIM Kozhikode. One of the premier institutes in our country, Indian institute of Management Kozhikode has made rapid strides. There is no hiding the fact that IIM Kozhikode has attained this current prominence because of its strong academic structure. So, what is it in the academic structure of IIM K that clicks?


class.jpgPreparation of the academic schedule is very important for any management institute. Here at IIM K, the schedule is prepared in accordance to the demands of the industry. The courses undertaken are decided after looking at the value they add and the importance they hold in the current scenario. Not only this, the instructors take care that the students are abreast with the latest developments.

Teaching methodology is another area where IIM K scores. The methodologies have been created after careful and in-depth analysis of various methodologies prevalent. Depending on the course and the type of interaction required, the methodologies vary from Case studies, class room discussions, and company analyses to individual presentations, seminars and group presentations. Care is taken that all the activities are given due importance. There are many instances when the course methodologies have been changed with the changing requirements, to make the course livelier.

The pedagogy has been so devised that all the students are required to participate at every stage of the course duration. Group tasks are given more priority keeping in view the importance of group activities in the managerial world. Assignments and projects are chosen to represent the current industrial scenarios.

Professors at IIM K are carefully chosen to represent various sectors of the industry and walks of life. The experienced in-house faculty are supported by adjunct faculty, who are experts in their fields. The students are also exposed to the industry with frequent seminars and visits from high-profile people. National flag ship events like AIMS, Horizon, and Arthanomics expose students at IIM K to experts from the industry.

As is the case with any educational institution, IIM K is evolving. It is constantly searching for methods of improvement and there is always scope for growth. With a vision of honing the best talents in the country, IIM K is making the students become managers.
