2007 saw some dark sides of Sporting, McLaren were stripped off their constructor's points as they were held guilty of using Ferrari's data in building their MP22. Then there was theFamous Alonso v/s Lewis cold war in the garages of McLaren. Ron Dennis was not in talking terms with Alonso which created waves in the Motor sport world. Amidst this, the crowd enjoyed every bit of this sport till the spectacular last race of Brazil, where Kimi was crowned the world champion for the first time since his debut in 2001. Yes! It was a much awaited victory for Kimi and Ferrari won their much awaited constructors after a gap of three long years.

After a break of Couple of   months, the machines are back on track testing their new engines in Valencia, Spain. The new 2008 cars have been modified as per the new regulations fromFIA1. The engine development has been frozen for 10 years. Total freeze means that there will be no exceptions for development of certain parts of the engine, as is the case under the current regulations. The changes in the sporting regulations are

§    No traction control: The traction control provided assistance to the drivers by controlling the rear wheel spinning when driver applies more than wanted power. Now, without this the real skills of the driver would be exposed and could mean more overtaking possibility.

§      Electronic control units:  FIA approved software's must be used in their new cars which would help FIA to closely monitor all the cars.

Couple of changes are also made regarding an engine failure during the qualifying and Gear boxes.

With all this modifications, the whole F1 community was eagerly waiting r the launch of the new challenger cars for 2008.

First of all, it was Ferrari with their new F2008 challenger which claimed to have major changes in their aerodynamics which was evident. The front nose has undergone a major change along with a couple of rear wing aerodynamics. Kimi and Massa are their driver's lined up which they would like to maintain for a couple of years. They look really promising this time.

Next to launch was McLaren with their MP423 model. Because of the whole controversy of spying on Ferrari data, the McLarens had to approve their car by FIA before their official launch.  To one's surprise, Kovalainen who drove for Renault last season is about to debut for McLaren.

William FW30 doesn't look to be evolved in its aerodynamics but yeah, they have painted it all blue. Time would  tell the Toyota powered Williams team's effort in getting a promising car for this year's challenge.

Honda RA108 was launched at Brackley, Honda racing's F1 factory in United Kingdom. Post disastrous performance by their RA107 challenger, which earned them mere 6 points and an overall 9th position last season; Honda is all set to come back with their new challenger under the Principal Ross Brawn, the former technical director of Ferrari.

Last to launch was Renault with their R28 challenger which too has a major change in its aerodynamics, a changed nose and many other rear changes.  A new driver line up, Nelson Piquet Jr a debutant and Alonso, an old horse from the stables of Renault makes a comeback hoping for Briatore- Alonso magic once again.
