Have you ever wondered while watching an ad for an underwear that what exactly are they trying to sell and what exactly is the mindset while making that ad? This is true for both male and female underwear, the only common thing is the inclusion of a beautiful lady in both kinds of ads.

An underwear as I know is a piece of necessity and usage. I wont go into the details of the usageshere but I guess each one of us know the specifics of that. Now recall the most recent advertisement you saw for an underwear and try to recall how many actual qualities did the ad show. To help you, here is the list:

1) Did it tell you the stuff (cotton/nylon etc) of the item?
2) Did it tell you whether it will fade or not?
3) Did it tell you whether it absorbs sweat or not?
4) Did it tell you whether the elastic is itchy or not?
5) Did it tell you whether it is available in the neighborhood shop or not?
6) Did it tell you the price of the garment?
7) Did it give any other useful information about the product?

I can bet, your answer to most would be no, it did not. Then are the people behind these ads fools not to include the most basic things about a product in an ad which they show at an exorbitant price on prime time? Isnt it against the most basic principle of marketing/advertisement? Don't they fear the failure of these ads? And for an item which costs a meager amount, isnt the product quality the most important thing? I believe its a low involvement product, so people should not actually care so much to an advertisement, but still you can see hundreds of advertisements everyday in TV or newspaper and all without the most basic information about the product.

Think about it!! An advertisement which do not provide even 1% information about the actual usage of the product.. Funny, isnt it.. No it is not funny, neither are the marketers ignorant of this simple fact. But still why do they do this, we will look at it in detail.. Keep watching this space.. Lot more to follow this teaser
