•• To support the students interested in consulting by providing them with necessary artifacts. This is contingent to the availability of such artifacts with the coordinators.
•• To extend help to the Horizons committee and the Backwaters committee in their consulting events only. The quantum of support will extend only to the level of providing them with knowledge based artifacts that might be needed for the event. All infrastructure related issues will be in the ambit of the organizing committee.
•• To accept and consider suggestions from the students' community and act upon them as deemed suitable.
•• To select the new group of coordinators and provide adequate knowledge transfer to them.
•• To maintain regular interaction with the faculty coordinator.
Activities Undertaken during the year
•• Konsult has organised a consulting summit, Crucible 2008, with leadership level speakers. The summit, organised after a hiatus of 3 years, was a grand success with participation from the Chairman of Arthur D. Little, MD & Co Founder of Grail Research and Founding partner from Grant Thornton. The Crucible website (http://konsult.in) developed completely inhouse saw a record number of hits before and after the event.
•• Konsult has also facilitated live projects on campus:
•o A team chosen by Konsult and led by a couple of Konsult coordinators worked on a consulting live project to help an NGO in designing a business model for a non-profit diagnostic and pathology centre in rural Kerala. The project involved primary and secondary market study, field visits and recommending marketing and operational strategies.
•o Another team would shortly start an assignment with a small scale IT firm to craft their entire business strategy, including market sensing and development, together with an organizational restructuring
•• Konsult has conducted 6 class room sessions in the academic year covering various aspects such as :
•o Consulting Basics for the Uninitiated - Part 1
•o Consulting Basics for the Uninitiated - Part 2
•o Explore Consulting: Global Powerhouses - Internal Consulting & Strategy Consulting
•o Explore Consulting: Global Powerhouses - Financial Consulting
•o Explore Consulting: Global Powerhouses - Organisation and HR Consulting
•o Popular frameworks used during case analysis
•• Konsult has also organized a guest lecture in the MFSA course (Term V) by the India Head of Deloitte, Mr. Santosh Anoo.
•• Konsult has chosen the route of inclusive work. We have formed a core volunteer's team comprising of members of the junior batch (PGP12). The members of this team were guided and given work to enhance their skills on the following categories:
•o Case studies research and analysis modelling
•o Conceptualisation of events and obtaining competitive information of activities happening at other campuses
•o Conceptualising and conducting class room sessions
•o Blogging on developments in the strategy world
•• To our core team we provided constant cases to be solved, tests on guesstimates, etc. which would enhance their level of preparation for a consulting career.
•• With respect to Backwaters, Konsult has not had a very good history of providing events. This year however we changed the trend and provided BW with a uniquely conceptualised event "Consulenti" which was appreciated a lot by PWC and the firm immediately agreed to sponsor the event. We have also provided any other support that the BW team has requested us as and when it has come up.
Activities proposed to be undertaken in the remaining part of the academic year
•• Sessions for placements preparation for PGP11 (if there is sufficient interest in the batch)
•• Launch of a POV competition for the PGP12 batch.
Conclusion
We believe we have elevated "Konsult" interest group to a new level of performance. The interest group had been pretty silent in the previous years and we have set the path for several activities being undertaken on a year on year basis. We have performed all our responsibilities and have gone a step ahead in the attempt to do a bit more. We would like to thank the students of PGP11 and PGP12 for the enduring support all through the academic year.
