mPower - the Marketing Interest Group at IIMK is one of the most popular and highly subscribed IGs. The IG works to forward interest in the Marketing vertical among students.
Driven by its motto: “Marketing. Everything.”, mPower strives to stimulate and encourage marketing interest amongst the students of IIM Kozhikode. To that end, mPower members meet once every week to share, discuss and analyze important developments in the domain of marketing. Weekly meetings usually start off with news updates from around the marketing world, and are followed by a session, a discussion or an activity.The sessions usually include marketing concepts, latest news, quizzes, gyaan sessions, company reviews and summers experience discussion are organised. Thurday is mPower day. For the past two years, mPower had successfully organized Synapse – The Annual Marketing Seminar on campus. Synapse 2006 was centred on the theme: ‘Marketing Revelations – Through the Seer Stone’. Mr Syed Ahmed, EVP-Marketing, ITC was the keynote speaker at the event. The event also saw participation from Mr Jayant Pendharkar, Head-Global Marketing, TCS and Mr Anupam Datta, Head – Dairy Business, Britannia Industries. The highlight of Synapse 2006 was a highly interactive workshop on the business of movie-making and movie-marketing. The workshop was conducted by Mr Tarun Tripathi, Marketing Head, Yashraj Films. In addition to these talks, Synapse also saw a paper writing competition on the future of Indian organized retail and its impact on local kirana shops. The competition saw participation from some of the best marketing minds from across India’s top B-schools. This year, mPower’s focus will be on a string of events and competitions . These events will strive to introduce students to marketing concepts and give them exposure to the continually evolving domain of marketing through a highly interactive platform.
