Legendary exponent of the flute and a
recipient of Padma Vibhushan, Pandit
Hari Prasad Chaurasia will perform at IIM
Kozhikode on 07th, January
2008 at 6:30 PM. The IIMK sub-chapter of
SPIC MACAY would be organizing this concert. He will be accompanied by Pt.
Ravindra Yavagal on the flute and Pt. Sunil Avachat as the second flautist.
A virtuoso at the bansuri – the North Indian bamboo flute, Pt. Chaurasia is one of
the busiest and most sought-after contemporary musicians in the world today. A
classicist by training, Pt. Chaurasia has made a conscious effort to reach out
and expand the audience for classical music. Apart from classical music, he has
made a mark as a film music director along with Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, forming a
group called Shiv-Hari. He has also collaborated with various world musicians
in experimental cross-cultural performances, including the fusion group Shakti.
Pt. Chaurasia is also the Artistic Director at the World Music Department at
the Rotterdam Music Conservatory - Netherlands.
